Animations

We were learning how to make stop motion animations. It was a challenge to keep our camera in the right place, our hands out of the shot and make it realistic. In some the lava only came out one side which we know wouldn't happen if it actually erupted but we had fun using our imagination to create our own eruptions.

  1. Kia ora Wesley Primary, I am Maddison from Kaniere School. I really like how you used your imagination to create those little animations! It made me think of when we had a show put on for us and the scientist made a volcano explosion. How long did it take to make the animations and was it hard?

    1. It took about 30 or 20 minutes. It was hard because I had to take about 50 or 60 shots and show it to my teacher.

I really like how you have done stop motion. It reminds me of when last year me and some friend did a lego stop motion.
Did you enjoy making the stop motion?

  6. Hi my name is Lofa from Wesley Primary School and I am in this class. So we made the volcano with our hands but we had to take a picture then put play dough on. We had to make it look like slow lava. Then we showed our teacher. We made sandpit realistic volcanoes in our other posts. Have a look if you want!

  8. Hey there Room 6 animators,
GREAT work on your first ever animations. You are right, it is very tricky to keep your camera in exactly the same place. Were you using chromebooks or iPads to create your animations? When we used chromebooks for animation we put masking tape lines on the desk where our chromebooks were sitting so we would always know where to line it up to take the photos. With iPads we made simple stands to hold them steady. I'm sure you will come up with your own strategies to make it better each time to try. Thanks for sharing.
